How can you make a difference?

The Regional Health Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to provide project management for the Regional Office coordination of immunization portfolio including COVID-19 vaccine deployment, across the teams in the regional office as well as with the Country Offices.

The consultant and under the overall guidance of Regional Health/HIV advisor and day to day supervision of the Regional Health Specialist will provide project managerial support to the Regional Office Health team to coordinate between the teams in the Regional Office, Headquarters and with the Country Offices, particularly for those involved in immunization and COVID-19 vaccine deployment and health systems strengthening.

Work Assignment:

Under overall guidance from Regional Advisor for health and with support from the concerned country offices, the consultant will:

  • To undertake a landscape analysis of IR initiatives related to MNCAH in the last 5 years in East Asia and Pacific
  • To conduct a needs assessment to identify gaps in RI knowledge/capacity among UNICEF EAP country office staff across the EAP region

  • To craft a plan-of-action to support IR initiatives related to MNCAH and to help fill knowledge gaps and build capacity in IR in the region

Submit a landscape analysis in a summary table of IR MNCAH initiatives in the region over the past 5 years, highlighting best practices and lessons learned.

28th February, 2022

Submit a rough draft of the narrative summary of IR MNCAH knowledge and capacity gaps among UNICEF Country Office staff in EAP, highlighting knowledge and capacity areas that have the greatest potential for growth.

17th March, 2022

Submit a plan of action and summary PPT for IR MNCAH in the region, identifying key initiatives, knowledge/ capacity gaps, and recommendations for next steps to help fill these gaps.

31st March, 2022

Taking into consideration feedback from region and country level colleagues, submit final landscape analysis summary table, strategic plan of action and summary PPT presentation.

End Product(s):

  • Table summarizing regional IR on MNCAH in the region in the past 5 years, including a description of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Narrative summary of IR on MNCAH needs assessment among UNICEF Country Office staff in the region, including identifying knowledge and capacity gaps that have the greatest potential for improvement.
  • Plan of action for IR MNCAH in the region, including key initiatives, knowledge/capacity gaps, and recommendations for next steps to fill these gaps.
  • Summary power point presentation.

Duration of Contract: 60 working days over 1 December 2021 – 31 March 2022

Working Location and Official Travel: The consultant will work from own premise.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in related disciplines is required for specialists with proven experience of at least ten years in health and social development programmes and implementation research that should include at least two years in experience of maternal and child health.
  • Excellent communication, writing, analytical, inter-personal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience in reviewing and summarizing health program and research documents.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and team works.
  • Proficiency in standard office ICT (information, communication and technology) applications.
  • Experience in terms of handling research and evaluation programmes/projects in multi-country settings will be an advantage.
  • Previous work experience in East Asia and Pacific Region is an advantage.
