The Public Partnerships Division (PPD) works to strengthen UNICEF's position as a partner of choice for children's rights among governments and inter-governmental actors around the world. The Division is doing this by positioning children's rights in the intergovernmental and multilateral fora and engaging with governments and public institutions as resource, policy and programme partners. A key premise for PPD is that the engagement with countries should be holistic based on multiple aspects of partnerships, including policy advocacy and resource mobilization.

The Senior Advisor leads the team in their area of responsibility and works closely with senior officials to maintain and strengthen the partnership between UNICEF and its government partners.

How can you make a difference?

The purpose of this assignment is to support and provide much needed additional capacity in external engagement and internal coordination as well as reporting for the partnership portfolio within the Europe team with a focus on France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Monaco and the Holy See. 2021 has brought a resurgence in multilateral meetings that were postponed or delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and UNICEF is at the forefront of many of these discussions.

PPD offers a great team environment representing a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents, and the consultant is expected to work in an integrated manner with the team.

Deliverables:

Partner engagement and Advocacy (June):

• Support and where appropriate act as a focal point for UNICEF’s high-level coordination and participation in multilateral events in 2021, inter alia the G20 humanitarian side event by facilitating and maintaining contacts with internal and external partners, arranging and/or attending meetings with assigned public sector partners/member states/regional partners and other UN entities to present and promote UNICEF's goals, positions, and resource requirements.
• Act as team’s focal point on Sport for Development and Faith Based Philanthropy and Advocacy.

Capacity Building (July):

• Support in the development of the second quarter funding projections and Analytics reporting for the broader Europe team around income and revenue projections for 2021.
• Support the development and delivering webinar on engagement with portfolio partners.
• Migration of all donor engagement history and review of partner accounts in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform (Salesforce).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• A Master’s Degree (or higher) in Global Studies, Political Studies, International Relations or a relevant field.
• A minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience in national or international public service related to external relations, resource mobilization, planning, or project management related activities is required. Experience working with UNICEF or a UN entity would be an asset.
• Experience working with Salesforce (“UNISON”), Microsoft Excel pivot tables and Power BI are required.
• Knowledge and experience in project planning using Gantt charts is required.
• Candidates with experience in donor engagement, particularly with the Holy See, Spain and France, and with specific knowledge or interest in Sport for Development and Gender will be preferred.
• Fluency in English required. Some knowledge of French and Spanish is required. Basic understanding of Italian is desirable. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese or Russian) is an asset.

Duty Station: Remote based

Duration: 21 June 2021 – 6 August 2021

Insurance information: Consultants and individual contractors are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, all insurance, such as life, health and other forms of insurance, covering the period of their services as they consider appropriate. They are required to certify that they are covered by medical/health insurance.

Location: All staff are required to work virtually until the re-opening of New York Headquarters, which will be under the guidance of Management. Consultants and individual contractors, that are required to work on-site and were recruited internationally, are fully responsible for arranging, at their own expense, travel to duty station.

U.S. Visa information: All consultants and individual contractors and any family members, who are not United States citizens, regardless of their nationality, must qualify for and obtain a G-4 non-immigrant visa prior to their arrival in New York.

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
