Expected duration ¿ The duration of the consultancy is 3 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds. ¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1,600 USD and depend on the qualifications and relevant experience. ¿ The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

Duties and Responsibilities ¿ Monitor the queue, paying special attention to UNICC Database Hosting services SLAs. ¿ Prioritize resolution, follow procedures to resolve incidents, implement changes, propose problem records for recurring incidents ¿ interact with other DBA team members to solve incidents in the queue. ¿ Patching, upgrades, database clones and backups, and NAS storage snapshot/clone/replication technology. ¿ provide on-call support (remotely using VPN connectivity) ¿ Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications/special skills Experience: ¿ A minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Administration, preferably currently running versions of Open Source-based DB technology components (database, application, etc.), primarily PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB. Any experience in Oracle database administration is welcome.

The resource MUST have the following experience: ¿ Experience in Database Administration ¿ Experience in Database backup and recovery ¿ Experience in Database high availability

The resource SHOULD have the experience in: ¿ Incident, change, and problem management.

Desirable certifications: ¿ Any certifications related to Database Administration Competency: ¿ Willingness to learn on the job and adjust roles as required ¿ Good communication and collaboration skills and a good level of spoken/written English language ¿ Support in a diverse workplace ¿ Regular documentation & reporting ¿ Creativity/ ability to find innovative solutions Skills: ¿ Good analytical skills Academic Qualifications: ¿ A university degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Language: ¿ Fluent in spoken and written English.

Additional Information UNRWA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNICC to enhance livelihood and human development opportunities for Palestine refugees in Gaza. By this new collaboration, UNRWA becomes a provider of Information Management and Technology services and capacity augmentation to UNICC technical team on a cost-recovery basis through IMTD/IT Service Center (ITSC) in HQ-Gaza.

UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking a Database Administrator to be part of DBA team which currently has 6 members spread across various locations (Valencia, Geneva, New York, Nearshore, Offshore).

The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza and report technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
