Overview

Develop outreach and communication materials on nuclear security.

You have:

• University degree in Public Information, International Relations, or a related discipline.
• At least five years experience in outreach and public communication on complex technical topics.
• Experience in communication on nuclear security related subjects is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in design and development of outreach materials for large events or conferences.
• Skilled and adept use of the following software is an advantage: InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Video editing tool.
• Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an asset.

The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the Agency's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security.

The Division of Nuclear Security (NSNS) is responsible, upon request, for establishing, coordinating and implementing the IAEA's nuclear security programme to protect against, detect and respond to nuclear security events and threats thereof. NSNS comprises four Sections:

•Information Management Section •Nuclear Security of Materials Outside of Regulatory Control Section •Nuclear Security of Materials and Facilities Section •Programme Development and International Cooperation Section

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the consultancy is to develop the outreach and communication materials on various topics of nuclear security, including for the International Conference on Nuclear Security: Shaping the Future (ICONS 2024); to provide technical input to the preparation and conduct of the relevant parts of the conference and to document relevant processes and lessons learned in order to be used for the preparation of the future events; and to develop the training materials on communication in nuclear security.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Develop the outreach, informational and communication materials, including flyers, posters, brochures and fact sheets for both print and digital distribution to promote the International Conference on Nuclear Security: Shaping the Future (ICONS 2024), which will be held during the period of May 20-24, 2024; • In coordination with the NSNS Outreach Officer, support implementation of the ICONS 2024 communication strategy, including preparation and the conduct of the relevant parts of the conference; • Design infographics for relevant outreach and communication materials such as fact sheets and magazines to be published electronically and printed; • Provide graphics and imagery to support exhibits, wall displays, and outreach booths; • Provide graphics and imagery to increase interest in social media output; • Document relevant processes and lessons learned in order to be used for the preparation of the future events; • Develop training materials on communication in nuclear security.

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in Public Information, International Relations, or a related discipline.
• At least five years experience in outreach and public communication on complex technical topics.
• Experience in communication on nuclear security related subjects is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in design and development of the outreach materials for the large events or conferences.
• Good understanding of the communication needs for the successful events.
• Skilled and adept use of the following software is an advantage: InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Video editing tool.
• Web maintenance experience is an advantage.
• Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) an asset.

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 250, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
