Duties and Responsibilities - Work with the team (technical Lead/Architect/other team members) and customer focal point to understand the business need and design/implement the technical data management solution. - Design and implement Data Solutions based on given requirements, specially using Microsoft Azure cloud stack. - Design and implement complex ELT/ETL processes using Integration Services, Azure Data Factory, LogicApps, DataBricks, PySpark, among others. - Implement and optimize complex transformations on different data sources such as JSON, XML, EXCEL and CSV Files. - Design and implement Data Lakes and Delta Lakes. - Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements. - Design, implement and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD. - Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

A university degree or master's degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

• A minimum of 7 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years for a master’s degree in Microsoft Azure platform expertise

The resource MUST have the following experience: - Microsoft Azure platform Data services expert knowledge - Proven experience working with Data Factory, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Databricks, Synapse and Azure Devops. - Python, PySPark, Spark SQL, T-SQL expert knowledge and experience - Proven experience working with Data Lakes and Delta lakes - Proven experience writing complex transformations and ingestion pipelines using Data Factory, Databricks and PySpark. - Proven experience working with relational database engines such as SQL Server and Oracle. - Good scripting skills with PowerShell, bash Shell and Python. - Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines in Azure using, at least, scripting and ARM templates.

The resource SHOULD have the following experience: - Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills - Ability to work in a team that is geographically dispersed and with teammates of different cultures - A high degree of initiative, being independent and able to work with little supervision. - Be able to work in multiple projects at the same time - A high level of personal integrity, as well as the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and show an appropriate level of judgement and maturity - Ability to deliver quality results. - Experience with Project Management methodologies (PRINCE2/PMP, SCRUM, Agile methodology) - Excellent technical documentation skills, and ability to deliver technical trainings - Customer-centric approach to delivery and problem-solving skills - AI/ML knowledge is a plus - Business intelligence knowledge is a plus - Strong English communication skills - Basic knowledge of other recognized UN languages is desirable

Required certifications:

• Azure Data Engineer Associate DP-500: Designing and Implementing Enterprise-Scale Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Power BI

Desirable certifications:

• Master’s university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology is a plus
• Any other Azure certification on Data management or Azure solutions Architect is a plus

Contract conditions:

• The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.

• Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1800.00 USD and depend on the qualifications and relevant experience. •The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

UNICC is looking for a strong Azure Data Engineer profile with excellent data solution implementation skills and also knowledgeable on DataOps and Infrastructure. The candidate must be flexible, able to work in highly collaborative environment, prioritize across multiple competing tasks, work independently and be able to estimate and complete tasks on time. The ideal candidate will have experience as Data engineer using Microsoft Azure environments.

Data and Analytics team is looking for an Azure Data engineer to help the team to deliver the new Data Strategy and Data Governance projects. The new consultant will be integrated in a multidisciplinary group with Data Architects, Master Data specialists, BI Engineers, Visualization Specialists, Business Analysts, Devops/ DataOps engineers and Data strategy specialists to deliver key strategic Data solutions with cutting-edge technologies to UN and International organizations.

The consultant will report administratively to the Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarters Gaza and report technically to United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC).
