How can you make a difference?

The specific tasks will involve as follows:

• review existing regulatory instruments governing medical evacuations and the medical insurance plan in the UN

and other inter-governmental organizations;

• review a revised version of the medical evacuation policy with a view to consulting with stakeholders and including

any lessons learned from the Covid-19 medical evacuation mechanism;

• review the current policy on the medical insurance plan, including the list of benefits and associated information

circular and other document and prepare a revised draft for discussion with stakeholders;

• update the list of identified issues for discussion and coordinate with the relevant insurance provider to receive

cost estimates for various requests for inclusion in the policy;

• in collaboration with the relevant insurance provider, design a framework of possible additional insurances that

could be offered to staff or non-staff

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in HR, Law, International Relations, Business Administration, Public Health, Social Security systems or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in HR policy in an international organization required, preferably an organization part of the UN common system.
• Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency; revising policies and practical knowledge of social security in the UN context especially medical entitlements, including medical insurance plans and medical evacuations.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
