Job Summary

The Community Health Worker primary role will be assisting the COVID-19 team within the IRC AZ Health Department with comprehensive, linguistically and culturally appropriate, COVID outreach to RIM communities. The Community Health Worker will act as a COVID Champion within their community, leveraging their social networks and positions as trusted conduits, to disseminate vaccination campaign materials, education materials, COVID mitigation education materials and promote and vaccination sites and education events. This position will also staff COVID-19 events and assist with interpretation, and translation.

Major Responsibilities:

- Facilitate activities designed to gather data about COVID-19 knowledge, attitudes, and practices, particularly related to vaccine hesitancy and acceptance in different populations and how these change over time with messaging among RIM communities. - Review, edit and provide material feedback on produced content and other materials. - Provide technical and linguistic support at health education and COVID vaccination sites. - Administer COVID health education while conducting outreach to community groups and individuals. - Promote vaccination and health education events through canvassing, flyering, and outreach calls. - Schedule and provide transportation to vaccination appointments to RIM community members. - Record relevant data according to specific project guidelines. - Seek new partnerships with relevant RIM community leaders. - Relay feedback from RIM communities to the Heath Programs team, including needs, misinformation, and questions to guide outreach efforts. - Translation of relevant education and promotion materials. - Other duties as assigned - Follow all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding.

Key Working Relationships:

Position Reports to: COVID Outreach Coordinator Position directly supervises: N/A

Indirect Reporting: Sr. Health Program Manager Other Internal and/or external contacts:

Internal: IRC staff, interns, and volunteers

External: Community partners, religious and faith-based communities, DES, law enforcement, schools, Banner University Medical Center, Pima County Health Department, Arizona State Refugee Health Coordinator, and other medical providers.

Job Requirements:

**Education****: No education required but degree in Human Services of similar field strongly preferred; comparable related work experience required if no education.

Work Experience: One+ year of professional work experience; preferably in public health, non-profit, or social services environment. Community organizing experience preferred.

Demonstrated Skills and Proficiencies:

- Experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted. - Excellent written and spoken English skills. - Experience in community mobilization. - Ability to effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment. - Strategic, creative, problem solver capable of working well independently and as a part of a team - Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook). Proven experience in web-based data entry systems, with both data extraction and design preferred. - Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation. - In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.

Language Skills:

- Fluency in written and spoken English, bilingual ability required in one of the following languages: Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French or other refugee/immigrant language used in Arizona. - Cross-cultural understanding and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Working Environment:

- A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
