Organizational Setting

The Communications Assistant Consultant will support the communication of the REDESER Project and also uphold the communication of the FAO Representation in Brazil, mainly with the communication strategy for projects of the Global Environment Fund (GEF).

Reporting Lines

Direct supervision of the Officer in charge of the Representation, and of the GEF project managers in coordination with the FAO Brazil’s Communication Officer and the Chief of Communications of the FAO Regional Office.

Technical Focus

Disseminate the activities of the REDESER project in the country and, as far as possible, regionally and globally, as well as in the scope of the Global Environment Fund projects. Develop activities to disseminate the work of the REDESER project and support FAO GEF projects in Brazil to key audiences: government authorities, parliamentarians, strategic partners, donors, academia, civil society and other international organizations in the country. Support the development of a social networks strategy to expand the reach and visibility of the REDESER and FAO Project, with a focus on the campaigns of the GEF projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Development in partnership with the Communications of the FAO Brazil Office, of a Communication Strategy to the REDESER Project, and support FAO GEF projects in the country, in line with the national and regional communication strategy and the guidelines of FAO Headquarters in Rome. • Design and distribution of communication products (newsletters, brochures, posters, etc.), considering the target audience. • Development and creation of attractive communication content: disseminate activities through success stories and human interest stories, videos, graphics, infographics, and other audiovisual material. • Support the REDESER Project communication activities by press releases, photographic coverage, preparation of presentations, post-event notes for the press and FAO website. • In partnership with the FAO Brazil’s Office, support the REDESER project events, meetings and field trips, and support for GEF projects. • Develop graphic content from REDESER Project and related GEF projects for FAO social media account by following the guidelines of the FAO Regional Office and Headquarters in Rome. • Support the Communication of the FAO Brazil’s Office to strengthen an active presence on social networks (Twitter) and to generate content for the website of the Representation, the regional page and, if possible, the global one. • Support the FAO Brazil Communication to keep the FAO website in Brazil up to date by the translation of materials sent by the regional office and headquarters in Rome. • Support the Communication of The FAO Brazil’s Office to keep the FAO position as a central actor in national public opinion, developing a relationship with the media, through its editors, journalists, columnists, among others. Media management One of the tasks of the Communications Assistant Consultant is to develop a close and proactive relationship with the press. To this, he/she should: • Update a list with press contacts interested in the REDESER Project main themes. • Manage the content of the REDESER Project and support for GEF and FAO projects with editors and journalists through direct contact and journal on the work involved. • Support the FAO Brazil Communication in the clipping of FAO in the news including the news from REDESER Project. • Meet media requests about the REDESER Project and support GEF projects, managing interviews or providing information of their interest. • Support the translation of regional and global news to include national country information that attracts the interest of the media.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Degree in Journalism, Social Communication, Marketing, or related areas. • Of at least 01 (one) year working with communication and/or management of digital communication (website and social media). • Fluency in Portuguese, and desirable knowledge of Spanish and English. • Word, Excel, Webmaster CMS (content manager). • Brazilian Citizen or other legally authorized to work in Brazil • Knowledge of edition programs such as Adobe, Canva etc. (video and image edition).
