This UNV assignment is part of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) West Asia Office initiatives and will contribute to the implementation on the UNEP’s communication strategy including visibility of the work of UNEP at the UN Country Team level. UNEP is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP West Asia Office, based in Beirut, Lebanon, coordinates the implementation of UN Environment’s Programme of Work in West Asia, with a focus on enabling member states and stakeholders to achieve their visions for sustainable development.

Under the direct supervision of the regional development coordinator and public information officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

• Support the development and production of communication and advocacy instruments and materials for marketing and awareness-raising campaigns, within the UN Country Teams including briefing materials and press releases and media outputs. • Identify key outreach opportunities and media networks and contacts in West Asia region such as other related events for dissemination of products • Prepare draft content for all outreach materials including pamphlets on projects and specific topics for the region in both languages: English and Arabic • Prepare advertising material including but not limited to banners, pamphlets, billboards, OPEDs, web campaign, campaigns for broadcast TV and Radio spots, print and social media (in both Arabic and English) • Support in developing a series of stories from projects and related environment topics in the region that can be used for the website, social media and other media. • Support in developing and deliver promotional videos on environment topics in the region that can be used on social media and other communication channels. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut, Lebanon National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
