This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Assistant Representative or his designated mandated representative(s), the Youth National UN Volunteer will:

  • Support communication and advocacy activities of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine (Office) in line with MoU signed between the Office and UNFPA with specific focus on promotion of the commitments under the Biarritz Partnership as well as further development of a comprehensive national campaign "Break the Circle".
  • Assist to maintain social media accounts of the Office, draft posts and prepare monthly reports, assist in enhancing the structure and content of the resources.
  • Assist in development of communication materials, coordinate the process of required information collecting, editing the text, design layout ensuring.
  • Ensure regular highlighting of DPM office activities on web resources: website, Facebook account, Twitter, YouTube (if applicable).
  • Organise translation and design services meeting communication needs for news publishing, events support, Office highlights presenting, printed informational materials development, etc.
  • Assist in media publications analysis and mentions in the thematic areas related to the Office work, flag the issues of concern, and suggest ideas of media projects.
  • Monitor international and national communication initiatives/campaigns/projects on promotion of gender equality and GBV prevention and response.
  • Carry out any other communications-related duties as may be required by the Office and UNFPA.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • At least a Bachelor degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.

Required experience:

Experience remark:

  • At least 1 year of relevant expericence wil be an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in and/or experience in the areas of gender-based violence, gender equality and social norms change (will be a strong asset).

Language skills:

  • Ukrainian(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise:

Other communications related experience, Journalism, mass media and broadcasting, Public information and reporting

Area of expertise details:

  • Advanced social media user with sound experience of managing social media accounts and websites.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills, including ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to conduct presentations.
