Job Description

Under the direct supervision and technical guidance of the Child Protection Coordinator, the Child Protection Capacity Building Officer will be responsible to organize and facilitate trainings on child protection related matters and IRC curricula to IRC staff, partners, community facilitators, etc.. He/she will play an important role to help ensure that the implementation of IRC's child protection program activities conform to technical guidelines and meet high quality standards. He/she will provide technical support to IRC staff, IRC’s partners and IRC’s community facilitators. He/she will also support issues related to the monitoring and evaluation of the child protection program.

The Child Protection Capacity Building Officer will be based in Vinnytsia, with regular travel to IRC and partner intervention areas, particularly Dnipro and surrounding areas. He/she will report to the Child Protection Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITES:

- Training and capacity building; - Assess the training and capacity building needs of the Child Protection (CP) team and IRC’s partners by observing and evaluating their existing knowledge, skills and competences in the area of child protection; - Support the design and implementation of capacity building plans, in collaboration with the CP Coordinator; - Organize trainings and provide regular and ongoing coaching to build the capacity of IRC’s Child Protection teams on the different approaches used within IRC, such as SHLS, SEL, SAFE, Parenting Skills Programs, Now I am stronger, Comic, etc., as well as other child protection core concepts and matters; - Support the CP team to replicate and organize trainings for community facilitators (if required); - Organize trainings and provide regular and ongoing coaching to build the capacity of IRC’s partners; - Support the Child Protection Coordinator with the adaptation of technical tools to carry out, monitor and evaluate the quality of CP activities; - Quality Assurance; - Conduct observations of activities and share recommendations to improve the quality of technical approaches used in the field; - Conduct quality assurance assessments in intervention areas; - Conduct regular observations of activities implemented by IRC’s partners and share recommendations to improve the quality of the technical approaches used by partners; - Identify potential problem areas and suggest improvements that can be made; - Prepare reports to communicate results; - Support to monitor and evaluate activities; - In close collaboration with the Child Protection Coordinator and the M&E team, support the review and adaptation of CP monitoring and evaluation tools to the specific context and project; - Facilitate the understanding and use of the tools by the Child Protection team and M&E officers; - Collaborate with the Child Protection and M&E teams to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality data collection and reporting for monitoring and evaluation purposes; - Support all other M&E activities as requested; - Contribute to ongoing situation analysis and improvement of project strategies; - Contribute to the documentation of lessons learned and good practices experienced during the project implementation to continuously improve and capitalize on activities; - Work in collaboration with M&E to propose to the CP Coordinator potential new needs, as identified in the field.

OTHER:

- Keep up to date of the child protection situation and developments in the intervention areas and surrounding areas; Report to the supervisor any child protection concerns, trends, and updates in the community and surrounding areas; Promote and adhere to the principles, goals and code of conduct of the IRC; Act both professionally and personally in a manner that brings credit to IRC and does not compromise its humanitarian mission; If necessary, provide translation and interpretation at meetings, trainings and/or documents for the better understanding of all staff; Perform any other duties as requested by his/her supervisor to ensure the smooth progress of the program.

REQUIREMENTS: - - University degree or equivalent in social sciences, psychology, social work, law, or other relevant related disciplines 3- 4 years of professional experience with similar functions in the implementation of child protection projects Experience in facilitating quality, interactive trainings with field staff Experience/familiarity with IRC approaches, including SHLS, SEL, parenting skills, case management, Now I am Stronger, the Comic, etc. Experience working with vulnerable children, including unaccompanied and separated children, children affected by conflict, children in psychosocial distress and other vulnerable children Ability to write clear and concise reports and make recommendations for improvement Demonstrated willingness to work and learn quickly and a commitment to professional development in the field of child protection Creative innovative, flexible, able to network and strong interpersonal skills Positive, highly motivated, professional attitude, including the ability to work well in a team High degree of flexibility and strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, maintain attention to detail Willingness to work in a non-stable and dynamic environment Willingness to travel to IRC intervention areas Sense of responsibility and ability to properly handle sensitive or confidential information Very good computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point) Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian, fluent / advanced skills in English
