This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Under the overall supervision of the Chief Field Technology Section and under the direct supervision of the Administration and Budget Unit Supervisor, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Participate in the preparation and formulation of ICT budget cost estimates including justification of resource requirements;
  • Participate in the preparation of the section’s Budget performance reports;
  • Participate in the preparation of the ICT Section Efficiency and Improvement Gains Reports;
  • Analyse variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures;
  • Assist with the monitoring of budget expenses including allotments of funds to different FTS components and advising on redeployments/realignments of funds;
  • Record and maintain accurate and complete records of the ICT budgetary requirements;
  • Keep updated on the UN IPSAS Policies including updates on Financial Rules and Regulations;
  • Process changes in the Umoja system as well as other guidelines that have bearing on matters related to budgets and financial transactions;
  • Draft or prepare routine correspondences and responses to queries in respect to ICT budgetary matters;
  • Provide guidance, training and daily supervision to National Staff in the area of responsibility;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Secondary education

Education - Additional Comments:

University Degree (BA) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field is acceptable.

Required experience:

60 Months

Experience remark:

A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within the United Nations or other International Organizations with national or international level in accounting, budgeting or financial management

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

Area of expertise:

Finance, accounting and audit

Area of expertise details:

Proficiency in Microsoft applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of French language is desirable.

Driving license:

Yes
