The UNDP Nature for Development team is looking for an online volunteer to support proofreading of 4 documents for the UN Biodiversity Lab (UNBL) website in Brazilian Portuguese. The UNBL is a platform that contains over 400 of the world’s best global data layers on biodiversity, ecosystem services, and sustainable development, enabling decision-makers and policymakers to access essential global data, upload national datasets, and calculate dynamic indicators for any area of interest - all without any background in remote sensing and GIS.

The UNDP Nature for Development team is looking for an online volunteer to conduct Brazilian Portuguese proofreading of key UNBL documentation. Tasks will include liaising with the core team via email and proofreading 3 Word documents (5-11 pages) and an Excel spreadsheet that have already been translated to Brazilian Portuguese. The online volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the Nature for Development team at UNDP and learn about the ways in which spatial data can support the achievement of countries’ sustainable development goals.

Application is open for all nationalities with a preference for candidates with experience in translation work. Candidates should have a native-level knowledge of Brazilian Portuguese and fluency in English. Professional experience in translation will be considered an advantage. Familiarity with environmental and/or spatial data science will be considered an advantage.
