Result of Service The main purpose is to work with the audio-visual consultant to - Ensure requirements are communicated effectively. - Review draft design documents and prepare feedback report. - Ensure final design documents meets the requirements, can be implemented in the required time and will be fully functional. - Ensuring the design will be consistent with UN standards, follows established AV industry standards and government regulations.

Work Location Beirut

Expected duration A minimum of 6-months with possibility of extension depending on needs and funding availability.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Chief, ICTS, and direct supervision by the team leader, telecommunications unit, the consultant will perform the following tasks: - Work with audio visual design consultant to - Ensure requirements are effectively communicated to the design consultant o Participate in site assessment o Review proposed design to o Ensuring that the proposed design will meet the requirements o Ensuring that the design can be implemented in the required time and will be fully functional. o Ensuring that the design will have the needed interfaces with other systems o Ensuring the design will be consistent with UN standards and technical goals of the organization o Ensuring the design follows established AV design standards and codes, industry standards and government regulations o Ensure that the deliverable (drawing, calc, etc.) is error-free. o Ensure that there is consistency in the design approach and aesthetics across units in the design o Ensure optimization with respect to design and cost. - Prepare feedback report based on the review. - Review final design for acceptance. - Assist in preparing procurement document, selection of vendor. - During implementation: work with the implementation team on the installation, testing, training, and handover.

Qualifications/special skills Licenses & Certificates: Certification in fields of audio, video, conference system design is required. Academic Qualifications: A Master's degree in audiovisual engineering, multimedia engineering, electronic engineering, or any other related field is required. A Bachelor's degree with minimum of five additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: Demonstrated history of working in planning, designing, development, implementation of renovation projects of audio-visual equipment and systems are required.

Skills required: o Expertise in developing and designing AV and conferencing systems. o Knowledge of UN, industry standards and best practices. o Project management skills. o Excellent written and verbal communication skills. o The ability to understand client needs and highlight the appropriate solutions. o Technical understanding of AV and IT technologies. o Experience conducting site surveys, designing, and installing audio visual solutions. o Up-to-date awareness of AV technologies and their features. o Extensive knowledge of the architectural, cabling, and control system requirements of AV technologies. o Experience similar to UN technology architecture is desirable Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an advantage.
