Audio Visual System Designer

Result of Service Complete system design and related project documentation shall be delivered; including, but not limited to, the following: - Signal flow diagram, including applied timing and referencing methodology. - Conceptual block diagram, functional lay out for each identifted AV room. Acustic and ligting design for each AV room. - Overall estimated system integration budget (equipment, material and labour), indicating line items for equipment, installation, commissioning, training, warranty and other project elements. - Proposed project schedule. - List of all applicable standards (industry and local codes) to be met by the design and systems integration company. - List of specifications on how the system is to be wired and tested. - Set of all single-line drawings required for integration phase of the project (detail design functional) such as: audio, video, lighting, control, CMSI, custom GUI layout, network topology, room and equipment layout and elevation, ergonomic and side line drawings. - Infrastructure specification including cable management, architectural and electrical requirements as an enhancement to the existing system, taking into consideration the preservation of the historical architecture of the building. - Generic technical specifications for all equipment and systems, including a sample available on the market that meets the specification in equivalent provided. - Technical standard specifications for utility panels (bulkheads), cables, connectors and other materials. - Scope of Work for the systems integration, which is to be included in the RFP for the second phase of this project. - Other documents related to the project.

Work Location Beirut

Expected duration A minimum of 6-months with possibility of extension depending on needs and funding availability.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) building, located at UNESCWA premises in Beirut Lebanon, is under renovation. The design and execution of few floors are completed while other floors design is in process. UNESCWA is planning to add Audio Visual system (AV) design for all conference rooms on the building within the renovation project. This project will be done as design - bid - build. The scope of this TJO is the design only, including producing all design drawings, specification documents and scope of work for system integration bid documentation. Under the overall guidance of the Chief, ICTS, and direct supervision by the team leader, telecommunications unit, the contractor will perform the following tasks: - Expectation/requirement gathering: Meet the clients and gather client requirements with the desired future state in mind. - Site Analysis: review existing system, equipment on site and ordered items - Requirement analyzing: conduct user needs analysis, present the result of analysis for approval - Change requirement to design: based on UN standard, guidelines and ESCWA building renovation design produce a system design of the audio visual, control, sound reinforcement and CMSI systems for the renovation of all conference rooms, including producing all design drawings, specification documents and scope of work for system integration bid documentation.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Advanced university degree in audiovisual engineering, multimedia engineering, electronic engineering or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with minimum of five additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: 7 years of work experience in audiovisual engineering or related area is required. Demonstrated history of working in in planning, designing, development, implementation of renovation projects of audio-visual equipment and systems, Skills required: o Expertise in developing and designing AV and conferencing systems o Knowledge of industry standards and best practices o Project management skills. o Excellent written and verbal communication skills. o The ability to understand client needs and highlight the appropriate solutions. o Technical understanding of AV and IT technologies. o Has experience with AutoCAD. o Experience conducting site surveys, designing and installing audio visual solutions. o Up-to-date awareness of AV technologies and their features o Extensive knowledge of the architectural, cabling, and control system requirements of AV technologies. Knowledge the following skills will be an added advantage: o Experience similar to UN technology architecture Certification required: o Certification in fields of audio, video, conference system design. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second official United Nations language is an advantage
