Associate Risk Officer

Corporate Risk Management serves as a Second Line of Defense for capital adequacy, treasury, operational risk and business continuity, and investment valuation oversight. As a Second Line of Defense, CRM is involved in the framework and policies, as well as the active management, of IFC’s financial and operational risk. This includes but is not limited to:

• Designing IFC’s risk governance

• Facilitating IFC’s risk appetite

• Managing IFC’s capital

• Developing and using IFC’s guidelines, instructions, frameworks, policies, and procedures for identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring, and reporting on risk

CRM’s key deliverables include:

• Supporting the maintenance of IFC’s AAA credit rating, including management of rating agency relationships

• Serving as IFC’s liaison with the Board’s Audit Committee in their oversight role of risk

• Enabling sound liquid asset management and the availability of local currency products

• CRM’s Capital Management and Enterprise Risk Unit (CRMCA) has an established Business

• Continuity Management (BCM) program, whose goal is to sustain and enhance the corporation resiliency to business disruptive events. The Business Continuity team coordinates with IFC’s business and corporate service functions, to support BCM efforts across more than 100 global offices. Success of the overall program requires collaboration across multiple diverse stakeholder groups, internal and external to IFC.

• CRMCA is conducting a search for a Risk Officer to join the Business Continuity team and contribute to the successful delivery of the BCM program.

Duties & Accountabilities

• Support the review and update of Business continuity and crisis management policies and procedures

• Support periodic business risk and impact assessments

• Assist IFC HQ-based departments and Country offices to document Business Continuity (BC) and Crisis Management (CM) Plans

• Document and track action items from BCM workshops

• Support the implementation and maintenance of crisis management tools (BCM software, Crisis management portal, BCM intranet site)

• Support the design and facilitation of BC exercises

• Support training, awareness and communication initiatives

• Maintain and support IFC’s network of departmental and regional business continuity coordinators

• Track, monitor and develop reports on BCM program metrics

• Contribute to IFC’s operational resilience initiative Support ad-hoc assignments and liaise with colleagues in other CRMCA units on cross-cutting tasks

Selection Criteria

• Master’s degree in business administration, information technology, information security or related subject

• 5 years of experience in business continuity management, crisis management and/or operational risk management in financial services (or an equivalent combination of education and experience);

• Strong understanding of industry standard business continuity planning principles, tools and techniques; business continuity certification or equivalent accreditation is a plus;

• Implementation experience through the entire business continuity planning cycle;

• Ability to align/integrate IFC’s crisis response to other organizational resilience initiatives such as compliance, data privacy, cyber/information security and IT disaster recovery;

• Experience in maintenance and execution of crisis management plans for major events, business continuity plans, IT disaster recovery and broader operational resilience outcomes;

• Excellent understanding of IFC’s activities, functions and processes (or those of a similar multilateral development organization) is a strong plus;

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English, including excellence in making effective formal presentations to groups of all sizes and at all levels; fluency in other languages is a plus;

• Strong interpersonal skills, with experience in interacting with a multicultural staff at all levels within the organization;

• Strong skills in standard office applications; experience in collaboration/document management and project management tools is a plus;

• Willingness to travel internationally
