**OVERVIEW** ------------ Post Number : WHC/PA 047 Grade : P-2 Parent Sector : Culture Sector (CLT) Duty Station: Paris Job Family: Culture Type of contract : Project Appointment Duration of contract : 1 year Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 11-OCT-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- The specific position is being sought for the planning, coordination, development and implementation of the project “World Heritage Online Map Platform”, funded by the Flanders UNESCO Trustfund (FUT). **Work assignment:** Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), the general supervision of the Director of the World Heritage Centre (DIR/WHC), and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Europe and North America Unit of the World Heritage Centre (Chief/WHC/EUR), and in coordination with the Deputy Director of the World Heritage Centre; the incumbent shall exercise the function of Associate Project Officer and will be responsible for the planning, coordination, development and implementation of the project “World Heritage Online Map Platform”, funded by the Flanders UNESCO Trustfund (FUT). Long Description ---------------- In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the: - Management of the project (overall planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting), in close cooperation with the partners and stakeholders involved. - Preparation and follow-up of the detailed activity programming for each of the different activities, including the preparation of contracts, follow-up on contract-implementation, budget management, organization and facilitation of expert meetings, and reporting. - Coordination of the data collection and creation of georeferenced maps of World Heritage properties in Europe and North America, in consultation with the relevant partners and States Parties - Coordination of the development of the online platform for georeferenced World Heritage maps in Europe and North America; also in coordination with the ongoing mapping activities of World Heritage Cities Programme; - Ensuring the development of guidance for States Parties on providing georeferenced data for World Heritage. - Reporting and communication on the project's achievements, including the final project report and evaluation. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Communication (C) Accountability (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***Education*** - Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in the field of Cultural and/or Natural Heritage, History, Social Sciences, Archaeology, or related area. ***Work experience*** - Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the field of cultural and/or natural heritage, preferably acquired at international level and in the region of Europe and North America. - A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in designing, managing and implementing projects related to the field of cultural and/or natural heritage, preferably at the international level and concerning multiple countries in the Europe and North America region. Long Description ---------------- ***Skills/Competencies*** - Good knowledge of the cultural and natural heritage field in the Europe and North America region. - Demonstrated ability to coordinate extra-budgetary projects related to cultural and/or natural heritage (preparation of proposals, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation), overseeing project execution ensuring consistency and timeliness. - Proven capacity to build partnerships and coordination with a wide range of partners and stakeholders within and outside the Organization. - Strong written and oral communication skills, high level of drafting skills. - Strong coordination and interpersonal skills. - Excellent IT skills, including in standard office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and preferably also in data visualization and presentation (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). - Basic knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its overall principles. - Good skills in using social media and mobile applications to advocate for the outcomes of the project. - Ability to work in a multicultural environment and maintain effective team cooperation. ***Languages*** - Excellent knowledge of English (both written and oral) or French and good knowledge of the other language.
