Contract

This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Associate Procurement Officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

  • Maintain a tracking system for Shopping Carts received.
  • Update and track the status of Cases with respective Buyers
  • Track requests for Tender Opening and Technical Evaluation reports from respective parties
  • Monitor delivery of goods and payments to vendors
  • Retrieve monitoring reports, in accordance with established timelines and procedures.
  • Archive procurement solicitation, Purchase Orders, contract file, Committee on Contracts and other correspondences and carry out the proper handover of archived documents to Information Management Unit (IMU), maintain record of archived documents for easy retrieval and future reference
  • Establish paperless records management system, in collaboration with Field Technology Section, by transforming paper based files to digital files/ archives to ensure paperless office, business continuity and digital source for records retrieval.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Secondary education

Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor’s degree or studies in procurement/administration/library/ archives management is considered as a plus

Required experience:

12 Months

Experience remark:

Previous experience in procurement/ contracting is manatory. Experience in administration, archives management and related fields is required.

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Dari(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
