Org. Setting and Reporting- Supervisor and Technical Guidance received: The incumbent of this post reports to the Field Social Services Officer, and works closely with Area Relief and Social Services Officer. -Supervisees and Technical Guidance provided: The incumbent supervises and provides technical guidance to Social Workers in his/her designated area.

Responsibilities The incumbent: - Supervises and manages the Social Workers in his/her designated area to ensure proper social case work, psycho-social assessment and development of care plans to individuals and families in need of social intervention using a strengths-based approach; - Mentors, coaches, and provides feedback and counselling to the Social Workers and assesses their training needs; provides individual/group staff self-care support and debriefing sessions for the well-being of social workers; - Holds regular meetings with Social Workers, monitors, follows-up and identifies/ refers social work issues in need of social interventions to Field Social Services Officer; - Acts as a focal point for receiving high risk cases at area level and supervise the designated Social Worker in conducting initial risk assessment in close coordination with Field Social Services Officer; - Provides periodic and ad-hoc reports concerning achievements, successes, challenges and indicators as well as their progress; - Coordinates with relevant stakeholders community based initiatives and activities targeting women, children, youth, elderly and persons with disability and the community at large as identified as being complementary to social intervention objectives at the family level; - Coordinates with other UNRWA programmes, at the Area level, to facilitate internal referral and increase refugees' access to UNRWA services; - Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).

Education University degree in social work, sociology, psychology, guidance and counseling, social anthropology, social development or a related discipline.

Work Experience At least three years’ experience in providing social, psycho-social and counseling support in development/humanitarian programs in NGO, governmental or non-governmental organizations

Experience in using computer applications, mainly database in social work.

Languages Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

* Conditions of service -Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment - Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need. - The selected internal candidate will be subject to area staff rule 103.3 Para 3. Effective 01 Jan 2018, cod.a/59/rev.25.

Monthly basic salary USD 1,410.70, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate.

Eligibility to apply: -This vacancy is open only for RSSP Fixed Term – GF staff. -To fully qualify for this position, staff will be required to successfully undertake an extensive six month training program, followed by a one year coaching process. In view of this, only applicants with more than two years until the date of retirement, will be considered for the post.

* Other Information: Work requires working outside office; and may include working during irregular working days/hours.

* Equivalency: When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and progressive relevant work experience.
