This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

The UN Volunteer, as part of the Chemicals, Waste, and Air Quality Subprogramme of the UNEP Asia and the Pacific Office, will provide day-to-day coordination and liaison support for the successful execution of the Project “Beating air pollution in Seoul Metropolitan Region through evidence-based solutions together with Seoul Metropolitan Government, Gyeonggi Provincial Government, and the Incheon Metropolitan City Government.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Associate Programme Officer – Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Air Quality Liaison Officer will:

  • Provide day to day coordination and support to project activities to ensure outputs are delivered according to work plan;
  • Maintain close liaison with relevant government and implementing partners;
  • Support preparation of stories and other communications products showcasing project achievements externally;
  • Support in preparing quality and timely project progress and financial reporting;
  • Provides administrative and substantive support to relevant project meetings, including author’s group meetings, stakeholder meetings, and outreach events. This may include proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposed participants, preparation of background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc; and
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Enviornment, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related fields

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience at the national and/or international level in environmental management, air quality management, or other closely relevant programmes required;
  • Previous experience of working with policymakers/government staff or research community is required;
  • Previous work experience in Republic of Korea is an asset; previous experience working in the UN or other international development organization is desirable.

  • Korean(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
