Job description

Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Global Project Social Protection Innovation and Learning advises the BMZ on the social protection sector in development cooperation. The project also hosts the Coordination Desk of the openIMIS Initiative. openIMIS is an open-source software supporting Universal Health Coverage and Universal Social Protection (www.openIMIS.org); typically used for the management of health financing processes, but also other social protection mechanisms. openIMIS is used in several countries in Africa and Asia. The Coordination Desk supports users, implementers and developers of openIMIS and coordinates their communities. It aims at promoting the software as well as the continuous development and further integration with other digital systems.

Your tasks

  • Support the work streams of the Coordination Desk, which consists of country assessments and implementation support as well as community building and communication
  • Manage all phases of sub-contracting process and contribute to the overall project management of the openIMIS Initiative
  • Coordinate with other development and technology partners within and outside of GIZ, develop these partnerships further for increased visibility and up-take of openIMIS
  • Take part in the various community activities of openIMIS, e.g. implementers’ committee, developers’ committee; specifically support the French-speaking community and its respective stakeholders
  • Develop and contribute to communication and capacity building material in various formats, especially for the francophone audience
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct missions for supporting the implementations of openIMIS
  • Represent openIMIS as well as the global initiative at conferences and events
  • Other tasks as requested by GIZ in relation to the above position

Your profile

  • Master`s degree in health economics, (public) health sciences, social protection, ITC or similar with a strong focus or experience in the other domains
  • Several years of practical work experience in international organizations or consultancies that are active in development co-operation
  • Experience in design or implementation of health financing/social protection schemes
  • Experience in ICT4D or digital solutions for health/social protection is beneficial
  • Experience in using agile approaches is an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team, independently, goal-oriented, reliable, trustworthy and confident in dealing with short deadlines
  • Strong intercultural communication and coordination skills
  • Business fluent in English, French and German skills are an advantage

Notes

This position is with an option for extension after the receipt of a follow-on assignment.

This job is suited to a full or a part-time position.

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
