Operational since May 2012 in Yemen, the IRC has been providing essential lifesaving services to conflict-affected populations and has quickly scaled up its response to the current food insecurity crisis through an integrated, multi-sector response. To help ensure that vulnerable households are able to access food to meet their immediate consumption needs, the IRC has mobilized funding to provide food vouchers in Abyan, Aden, Hodeida, Sana’a, Al Dhale’e, Lahj and Shabwa governorates.

Scope/job purpose****:

Under the supervision of IRC Yemen WPE response officer , and based in Aden, Abyan an aAldale;e , the WPE AG assistant will be responsible for the implementation, and quality WPE response sector in the Women and Girls Community Center (WGCC) or mobile team while working in close collaboration with the IRC team and local partners. She will be covering any activities related to adolescent girls.

Responsibilities and tasks****:

In collaboration and under the direct supervision of WPE Response Officer, the WPE adolescent girl assistant will:

· Mobilize adolescent girls in target locations to participate in psychosocial activities provided by the IRC, including emotional support groups, skills-building, non-formal education and recreational activities

· Facilitate life-skills activities targeting adolescent girls based on the IRC’s curriculum My Safety, My Wellbeing

· Co-facilitate parenting skills curriculum with male and female caregivers

· Collaborate to caseworkers and other WPE team members to ensure GBV responses are taking into account specific needs and vulnerabilities of adolescent girls and youth-friendly communication techniques are used

· Support logistic implementation of the activities, including by raising purchase requests, handling petty cash according to IRC’s policies, contributing to regular spending plans

· Use agreed-upon monitoring and evaluation tools to track adolescent girls’ participation in activities and collect their feedback

· Support and collaborate with local partner staff, including by providing coaching and training on how to work with adolescent girls

· Draft and contribute to regular weekly and monthly reports

Other

· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs

· All IRC staff is required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.

Key Working Relationships:

· Position Reports to: Response Officer

· Position directly supervises: None

· Position provides technical support and mentorship on information management: WPE team

Qualifications

Required qualification and skill:

- Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant training - Good working knowledge of English language. - Minimum three years professional experience in implementing GBV response programs. - Excellent knowledge of the working environment - Knowledge of GBVIMS or confidential data entry - Personal qualities: Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible, able to handle pressure well, and strong communication skills - Knowledge of Microsoft word and excel. - Deep understanding of gender-based violence, women’s protection and empowerment in the context of Yemen

Work Environment

Based in Aden, Abyan and Aldale’e with 100% travel to field.
